Smart legal tools to grow your business
On June 14th, Kelly Logan held an interactive workshop during which participants worked through real-life scenarios and learned how to deal with the following legal issues for their businesses.
- Liability: How to limit their liability if things go wrong
- Intellectual Property: How to use it to protect and commercialise their ideas/concepts and how not to infringe the rights of others
- Data Protection – GDPR: How to comply with the new European data protection regulation (GDPR)
These important lessons were learned by using examples from the life and times of Bernie Amarillo, sports entrepreneur.
Bernie Amarillo, eligible bachelor, former hockey professional and recent Sports MBA graduate owns Yellow Brick Road, a sports consultancy business. Bernie run a very successful workshop – “Hit or Miss: How to create a Hit Sporting Product” which he is taking online. Bernie was planning a large marketing campaign to publicise this including a new website, on-line marketing and a speaking tour (Bernie loves speaking about himself).
Bernie has a hit team of 6, works with industry leading designers, and his turnover and client list are growing. Life was pretty good for Bernie. Or was it now?

I loved the Smart Legal Tools workshop. Kelly’s advice is a must for business owners and managers. In 3 hours he guides you through the essential aspects of being legally compliant for crucial topics such as: GDPR, copyright, patent and brand protection and how to set up your own business easily. My advice - don’t put off dealing with legal aspects. Kelly makes it manageable and fun. He is generous with his time and advice and builds confidence in you so you will make smart decisions.
Kelly’s presentation skills made for a refreshing and entertaining change in the way one engages with a “typical” workshop. His friendly manner made everyone at ease and made sure all participants took plenty away from the workshop while also feeling free to contribute at the same time. Knowledge and a great sense of humour are powerful tools and Kelly has both of them in his locker.

What sets this apart, and makes it better, is the creative approach that Kelly takes. This ensures the experience is original, unexpected and full of energy.
In June 2018 I attended the workshop “Smart Legal Tools” by Logan Kelly. I came in a state of not knowing and I left with joyful learning. Why: First the workshop was organized in tables of four participants learning by exchanging knowledge. Second we were inspired by the competition between groups. Thirdly the facilitators gave clear, practical and humorous inputs. In total a very creative design with fine learning and meeting people in cooperation at the same time. I fully recommend it.
I was struggling to get my head around the new GDPR and understand the practical implications for my own business. This seminar thought taught me everything I needed to know about this complex and dry topic in a fun and interactive way. The brilliant storytelling narrative, full of suspense and surprise kept me awake and alert until the very end! Highly recommended!
As the recent founder of a startup toy company, I am trying to fast track my knowledge on diverse topics ranging from intellectual property, limiting liability and, of course, the impact of GDPR on my ability to maintain lists of potential customers and to communicate with them. In full transparency, I normally dread attending any type of legal training due to dry delivery and lack of concrete examples. The Smart Legal Tools workshop run by Kelly Logan was something unique, however. He was able to present the content in a highly engaging (dare I say fun) format, and each legal topic was presented as a mini "case study" dealing with subjects that I am living with on a daily basis. I can offer no higher recommendation for this training and look forward to the next workshop run by Kelly and his team.
I recently attended an excellent Executives International workshop given by Kelly Logan of Logan & Partners on the topic of “Smart Legal Tools to Help Grow your Business”. The presentation was most original, fun and interactive and yet achieved its purpose of clearly explaining Liability, IP and GDPR, currently a hot topic.
